Artist: Ras Kass
Track Name: Anthropology Hip Hop (Nature Of The Threat)
AH Track Rating:
When this song dropped on the world, it was not ready. More than 20 years later, I’m still not sure the world is ready for what Ras Kass gave us in Anthropology Hip Hop. I mean yea, he really and truly broke down ‘The Nature of The Threat”… that still faces so many of us today.
Reminding us all, that this is the purest form of hip hop, to share information with the community that we need to know about.
Sadly, Ras Kass was slept on. This track came off his debut album, and was considered a lackluster performance by many. Frankly, the production wasn’t what people were expecting. Lyrically, throughout, Ras Kass delivered. Unfortunately, I’d say looking back on it now, that Ras dropped this heat right as hip hop fans, were starting to care more about the beat, and less about the content.
… to the delight of the puppet masters,
Because he burned down the track on this one, and left no illusions as to the historical nature of the threat our enemies pose against ‘normalcy’ …. 5 hot flames for this Hip Hop Classic!
Let freedom ring with a buckshot, but not just yet
First, we need to truly understand the nature of the threat
The pale man walks in the threshold of darkness
Roughly 20,000 years ago the first humans evolved
With the phenotypical trait, genetic recessive
Blue eyes, blonde hair and white skin
Albinism apparently was a sin to the original man, Africans
So the mutants traveled North of the equator
Called Europeans later, the first race haters
So here’s the Devil’s alpha to the beta
Cause history’s best qualified to teach one
Quoting German philosopher Schopenhauer
“Every white man is a faded or a bleached one”
Migration created further mutation
Genetic drifts, evolution through recombination
Adaptation to the climate
As the Caucus mountain man reverted to that of a primate
Savage Neanderthals, until the late Paleolithic age
That’s when the Black Grimaldi man came
With the symbol of the dragon, fire and art
Check cave paintings in France and Spain to the Venus of Willendor – Ras Kass, Nature Of The Threat
The Pale Man walks in the threshold of Darkness …, that line alone … smh;
Hey some of us black folks are walking in the ‘darkness’ of lacking knowledge as well. But, this is that Intelligent Rap that 50 Cent says black people don’t want any of. You see, there have been people in the community pushing that nonsensical idea for far too long. But, that’s why we must understand the nature of the threat. They (those puppet masters) don’t want black people listening to this kind of stuff…. which is all the more reason to listen.
Listen to Ras Kass himself, speak on writing Nature of The Threat…
Ras speaks about how, listening to Hip Hop O.G.’s Erick B and Rahkim, caused him to ‘question’ some of his religious upbringing. “How is he calling himself God?”…. This song contains so much history, and so much truth. As Ras points out in this brief interview if you disagree with anything in the song, prove it. Let’s have a dialouge about this 1996 classic … even if it’s late. Our comment section is waiting on you now.
