Make sure you open your eyes and your mind for this one. This is such a powerful video, from Run The Jewels, featuring Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against The Machine). The song is pretty powerful too, because I mean at what point in time do the people get tired of being oppressed, and targeted? When do folks begin to fight back? Those questions are raised in Close your Eyes. This is what hip hop is supposed to do for all of us in society. It’s not ‘just’ a form of entertainment, but can be educational. Not only should it give us something to think about but a real hip hop video, will spark discussion.

That’s what happens here with Close your Eyes from Run the Jewels.

When hip hop is bought out and controlled by outside forces its’ creativity is often muzzled. Unfortunately, too many people have closed their eyes to the realities. This ongoing struggle between blacks and the police has history behind it. It’s a never ending struggle, and the truth is both sides are being harmed. It’s not really benefiting any of us. Open your eyes. “The only thing that close faster than them factories be our caskets”.

I really wanted to give this 5 but the ending could have had more closure; 4 solid fists  though for all of this. Let us know if you agree.
