"1942 Flows" by Meek Mill
AH Video Review Rated:
Sometimes things happen in the lives of people, so they can be used for a greater purpose. In the midst of entertainment, and all the drama that comes with it, we recently saw Meek Mill heavily involved. His relationship with Nicki Minaj, was put through the tests, and became ‘fodder’ for gossip and rap beef. Then, after seemingly having his career put in real jeopardy by Drake, who’s now in that same position ‘as of today’, Meek Mill was tested, again.
Imprisoned for a minor reason, a supposed probation violation over Poppin Wheelies.
The system is corrupt, as fuck, still. It’s not 1942 anymore though …. 3 Power fists up for this video, for 1942 flows
We like when hip hop shines a light on issues that really matter.
I do wish the video ‘went more’ into this matter with even more visuals. Perhaps he was on a tight budget. In 1942 flows, we mostly get to see, the freedom that isn’t all the way freedom.
Out of ‘bondage’ but still in bondage, with in a society where police lurk on all corners where black people reside. In this video for 1942 Flows, Meek talks about these recent events in his life, while looking like he’s on house arrest. People still outside, chanting “Free Meek Mill” … as he peers out his window. Free, but still not free. The system can put him back, at any time. How is that fair? How is this life, for too many ‘Americans’ … who happen to be black?
When will change, truly come?
Perhaps Meek Mill had to go through some ‘tests’ to prepare him for a lot of what he’s been doing since getting released from prison. Stay tuned ….
